If the diet you select focuses mostly on fast results, your going to find out that these will end up being a short-term results and not really a way to loose weight and keep it off. Sadly once people stop these kinds of diets, they end up packing on more pounds then they had before they started the diet.
The best way to loose weight is to work on making permanent changes to your routine that will improve your overall fitness level. Over time, building muscle and developing healthy eating habits will raise your body's metabolism so you burn more calories. Once you get your metabolism up, you will find out that your exercise program will kick the fat burning process into the next gear, and you burn fat even after you are finished working out.
There are two ways to increase your body's metabolism: Increase physical activity and eat smaller meals throughout the day. While these are changes that you should commit to for a life time, you can work them in gradually and before you know it you will be living a healthier life, without even thinking about it.
Exercising does not have to be that we dread to do and find every excuse in the book not to set apart time to do it. You can get in some exercise just by changing some of your daily activities. Walk or ride your bike to work if you can. Take the stairs to the 5th floor or better yet to the top floor and ride the elevator down to your floor. While at work, you are still allowed to take a short break at least twice each day, so take a stroll around your office building to burn a few extra calories.
Most people like the part of this plan that includes eating six time per day instead on three, and this is the real secret as long as your total calories for the day is within your weight loss plan. What's really happening by eating six smaller meals per day, is your body gets to process the food as it's coming in, there is no need to store excess that has a good chance to turn to fat.
The human body has evolved, but for some reason it still thinks it we are going to run into hard times. Therefore it wants to store excess calories in the form of fat to feed off of latter if needed. Eating three large meals actually puts your body into a feast-famine cycle causing your metabolism to increase and slow back down several times a day. These small "meals" do not have to be full meals at all.
There are a number of healthy snacks you can keep on hand to give you a boost of a few hundred calories. Dividing your existing portions into several meals is also a good way to keep eating a steady flow of calories throughout the day. For example, a half of a tuna sandwich and a piece of fruit is around 400 calories, the perfect size for a quick midday snack. Remember that living an overall healthier lifestyle allows you to add in some "forbidden" foods in moderation.
Don't forget this is not one of those fly by night crash diets, so there is really no foods that you can't eat. There is no reason you can't have a quality piece of chocolate during one of your six meals. This will make up a large portion of that meals calories, but ut will also make staying on tract easier and won't hurt you a bit.
Being okay with yourself when occasionally eating your favorite not so healthy foods, this is the only way you will stay with your plan long term weight loss plan.
