Isn't it great what they are saying in newspapers and TV about weight loss? It's amazing the results they claim about losing ten pounds in two days and eat everything without ever needing to worry about gaining it back.

By the way they also tell you that you don't have to exercise, because they have this wonder pill that will melt the fat right off. I would like to think that most people blow this crap off as the marketing scam as it is, but the truth is these ads sell or they wouldn't still be on.

I want to help you break that pattern and give you some tips about weight loss that is true. I'm writing this article to tell people the truth about weight loss.

We can fall into the trap of thinking we a presupposed to weight issues, because of obesity problems in our family history, and this could be part of the problem. But, do we really think we can blame eating a whole Pizza and sitting on the couch all night on genetics?

We need to admit that mom and dad's family tree didn't cause all our weight issues, and that we bear at least some of the responsibility Even thought the family tree might have some weight issues, that that passed to you, you need to understand you still made choices in your life that didn't help.

What people don't understand is this is not as much about weight loss as it is about lifestyle changes. . The hard cold facts are you have no choice, if you don't want to cheat yourself and your family out of years of your life.

Okay, so now that I talked you into kicking yourself in the butt, I also want to advise you to go to your doctor and have him run some test to see if there are any medical issues that could be contributing to your weight problems. This is a good idea because you need to know if you'll have any restrictions on what you can or can't do in your weight loss plan. One would hope that a good Doctor would also give you advise on how to safely take off those pounds.

Before you make any changes, or start any exercising, you must write down your goals, and they must be realistically obtainable.. You need to have a challenge for this to work, so your goal needs to be high enough so that when you reach it, you really did make yourself healthier, but not to high as so that you could never reach it. The worst thing you can do if you need to lose 50 pounds or more, is to set yourself up for failure by setting your first goal that high. You need to take this much weight lose in smaller steps.

The best way to do this would be by setting short term and long term goals, If you want to lose sixty pounds set that as a six month or longer goal, and then set monthly goals until you reach your sixty pounds target.

Now that you set a goal for how much weight you want to lose, it's time to look at exercising. This is one half the formula and is how you are going to burn your calories. I would suggest you start by waling 30 minutes per day. You might not think walking is going to do much for weight lose, but if you stick to a daily plan, you are going to be surprised and your muscles are going to let you know what's working.

If your not use to exercise a good goal for walking would be to be up to a mile within two weeks. You should be faster at the end of the two weeks as your strength and wind, get stronger. Some people think you need to jog, but as long as your target heart rate is around 120 and you maintain that for 30 minutes, walking is very effective.
